The Quarter System

Unlike most programs, American English Language School requires you to sign up in quarters rather than months. This is because if you are only in class for a month, you may spend the first few weeks being shy and not wanting to talk to classmates or the teacher at first. If you do not participate in conversations, learning the English language will be much more difficult. However, when you sign up for a quarter, you have plenty of time to get to know each other and get comfortable so that you spend more time progressing academically. 

To achieve this goal, American English Language School created a smaller class size and made the curriculum to fit a faster pace. This will allow students to become comfortable much quicker. With this process, instead of taking two weeks to get comfortable and spending only two weeks learning, students are taking one week to get comfortable, and they spend the other 11 weeks improving in their studies. This allows students to get the most out of their 12-week course. 

With a more extended course, students will have steady progress in their studies and take fewer breaks in between sessions. The quarter system also allows for a much more consistent classroom. It will enable you to work with the same teacher and classmates for 12 weeks rather than switching every month, not knowing how many will be in your class. Learning English takes time and patience, and one month is not enough to progress correctly. For these reasons, American English Language School runs on a quarter system so that students are more likely to stay focused.
