It’s almost summer time in California and a great way to spend the summer is at the beach. Here is a list of three popular beach cities in Los Angeles, California!
1. Manhattan Beach
Manhattan Beach is filled with expensive mansions because it's a beautiful place to live. The wide, sandy beach is well-maintained, and there are lifeguard stands every few hundred yards. It's close to other areas and attractions in Los Angeles for easy sightseeing and also has a vibrant downtown if you would like to spend more than one day.
The restaurant scene here is filled with so many options and ranges in many types of cuisine. The beach is centered around a municipal pier that houses a small aquarium that features the local marine life. The beach is fronted by The Strand bike and walking path, and there are also houses, hotels, and businesses located along it so that visitors can go shopping or enjoy the local area. The city is also filled with parks that surround the beach area if visitors would like to venture off the beaten path.
2. Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a wonderful beach city that supports all types of interests!
The main beach, Santa Monica State Beach, is 3.5 miles long and is intersected by the Santa Monica Pier. The pier is a fun entertainment and amusement park, extending out into Santa Monica Bay. The North Beach Playground has many activities for children to do so this beach city both serves adults and children!
North of the pier is miles of open beach known as the Will Rogers State Beach that includes all the amenities you could ever want or need during a wonderful California beach day! The Strand beach boardwalk and bike path also goes along this beach and goes all the way to Venice Beach and Redondo Beach so it is perfect for any type of biker or walker!
3. Malibu
Malibu's cove-type beaches are sometimes secluded beaches surrounded by cliffs. Some have parking at the top of the bluff and are accessible only via a winding path that leads to the sand.
One great beach is Topanga Beach, where Topanga Canyon meets the Pacific Coast Highway. This is one of the original surfing beaches and has been featured in many movies and TV shows. Topanga is a mile-wide rocky, pebbly beach, best for water sports, diving, or fishing, but does not support the usual beach swimming.
On the north end of Malibu, Zuma Beach is a wide, flat beach that stretches for almost three miles and is the most famous for its surfing. At the south end of the beach, there are rocky cliffs and a cove that’s only accessible at low tide.
Any of these beach cities are a wonderful choice to visit when you come to Los Angeles, California!
