Everyone knows that an ideal job is one in which the morale is up. Simply stated, the people that work there should always come first. A smooth- running work environment is one where the people are happy and dependable. Think about it. Even if you make a lot of money and are working in the finest of hotels, if the people aren’t genuinely warm and friendly, but rather miserable, the environment can become a prison quite quickly and no one will want to show up...employees and customers alike. No matter how beautiful an environment is, the people make it a yay or a nay. Not much unlike relationships, people can either make or break a business.
If the inner workings of an apple are rotten, the rest of the apple gets spoiled and it goes down the drain. Therefore, a successful business comes from a happy customer, comes from a happy employee, comes from a happy work environment. So, what makes a happy work environment?
Happy and dependable people do. People are happy when things run smoothly. And people are dependable when they are happy at their job. To put it simply, things run smoother when people happily show up for their job. It is about being able to count on each other to show up on time ready to work. If one is not on time, it reflects badly on them and it makes everyone else’s job harder.
The other employees have to make up for the lack of work you’ve missed doing. An ideal work environment also requires a positive attitude from everyone. You don’t have to be best friends with everyone but, you also should never back bite or gossip about anyone. If you do, it usually comes back to bite you and it makes the work environment toxic to work in. Working as a team rather, builds a positive morale amongst employees.
When people are happy, they are more productive. Happy productive employees groom a healthy work environment and vice versa. In other words, it pays to not be lazy. If employees are productive and not lazy, their hard work gets noticed by management hopefully. This in turn, can help them reap further benefits at their job. They may get a raise or a promotion or both.
Thus, the employees grow in their job, and the team is a cohesive unit. When the team works cohesively, it makes the job easier for everyone and it even makes work fun. And, who doesn’t like a fun work environment. It makes getting out of bed worthwhile on Monday morning and carries you through to Friday. Finding joy at work is a gift and reflects from within.
Furthermore, it exudes onto others and can be contagious to all. And, isn’t that what we all need? A little contagious fun and laughter in the walls of the workplace?
